The Old Firm XX: A Steampunk Tale

"Five minutes to the border," announced a minion as Master M examined the gauges of the stored fissionables.

"Send of a wireless to the Duke, inform him that his package for his program is secure," Master M inserted a key and locked down the fissionables with a loud satisfying click.

The minion clicked his heels and hurried off leaving his master to his work. The regular clank of moving parts bright and shiny over the steady thrum of the steamer's driver's. As the minion shut the door behind him, a green glow filled the carriages space only to be shut off with a sharp click.

"I...I've never used one of these before," she said, her nervousness showing in her voice as she delicately turned the hand crafted pistol over in her hands.

"Quite simple really," Rebecca said taking it from Stefania. "Aim and pull the triggers." The roar of the both barrels firing filled the carriage. As the smoke cleared a hole big enough to punch several fists through let in the outside scenery as the steamer rushed through the lowland countryside.

"Oh my," Stefania said as she took the pistol back and ejected the shells.

Rebecca grinned. "No worries, just another day doing the King's bidding. Now, let's get frontside and see what we are up against."
